SLC-Bush resumed the lawyer test Waddoups federal judiciary

The appointment of counsel for Clark Waddoups Federal Utah’s Bench Tuesday was taken with the praise of colleagues and lawyers, who say the Salt Lake City Trial lawyer would be a fair and independent judge.

“Clark has an impeccable background and should be one of the least controversial appointments, he could,” said the lawyer Rob Clark, who works with a Waddoups Parr Waddoups Brown Gee & Loveless. “It does not have a political orientation. It must be a really good choice for everyone who wants to see the excellent judge of the Bank, without worrying about all sorts of political issues.”

The White House announced late Tuesday that President Bush has appointed Waddoups to replace U.S. District Judge Paul Cassell, occurred in November to teach at the University of Utah SJ Quinney College of Law . The appointment must still be considered by the U.S. Senate.

Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff said the traditional label “conservative” or “liberal” do not apply to Waddoups, that “as qualified as her.”

“It goes beyond anything he cares,” said Shurtleff.

Waddoups was the town Tuesday and could not be reached immediately for advice.

A native of Idaho, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1970 by Brigham Young University and a law degree in 1973 by the University of Utah. According to J. clerking for judges of the Clifford Wallace 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, he practiced with Anwaltskanzlei CA O’Melveny & Myers in seven years.

Since 1981, Waddoups has practiced law in Salt Lake City company that bears his name. He represents clients in the banking, finance, manufacturing, radio, oil and real estate.

Waddoups has recently dealt with two cases of high level. In 2006, he won a judgement of the Supreme Court of Utah confirmed that the state legislature, the right to a period of public benefits to workers. Last year, he lost the arguments on behalf of the private school good defenders, that the High Court to strike should be a referendum petition, the controversial issue for voters.
Waddoups already been married for 40 years, Vickie Lee Waddoups. They have five children and 16 grandchildren, with a building in the 17th under this summer.
Vickie Waddoups said the two grew up in the same town and Idaho began in Clark Waddoups year Senior High School. She said they appreciated life in California, has been enthusiastic, but when she had the opportunity to move back to Utah.
